SECOND GRADE

Teams can practice once a week at the discretion of the Coach as to location, time and day of week.  On game day coaches divide their players into two teams that will play concurrently on two adjacent fields.

FALL SEASON - The Second Grade fall season runs from late August through October. Games in the fall are held on Saturdays early morning through late afternoon and Sundays from afternoon through early evening. Games are held at Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex (OPSC).

SPRING SEASON - The spring season run normally from late March through May. Games are scheduled through SPORTING Blue Valley and posted on this website approximately eight days before the first game. Games during the spring are held throughout the week. The Saturday games will be from early morning to late afternoon.  Sunday games will be scheduled from early afternoon to early evening. Games that are scheduled on Tuesday or Thursdays will be played from 5 pm to 8 pm. Games are held at Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex (OPSC).

FIFA Laws of the game with the following exceptions:

• All kicks are indirect free kicks
• Goal kicks are taken from the top of the goal area
• No standings are kept
• No player cards are issued
• No slide tackling

Rules Introduced:

• Goalkeeper is introduced for the first time
•  Substitutions are taken at the center line
• Offside is introduced for the first time
• Center referee is introduced for the first time
• Coaches start coaching from the sidelines between the two fields
• Parents are asked to watch from the outside sideline of the field their child is on
• On restarts, opponents should move a minimum of 5 yards (indirect kicks & throw ins) and 10 yards for goal kicks
