TEAMSoccer - A Sporting Blue Valley Program

What Is TEAMSoccer?

TEAMSoccer is for players age 5 through age 18

Launched in Fall, 2013, SPORTING Blue Valley remains thrilled with the addition of TEAMSoccer to its growing list of soccer programs for youth ages 5 - 18. TEAMSoccer is a program designed for players with physical and/or mental disabilities, who wish to learn and play the game of soccer. Players are paired up with youth and adult mentors, when needed, to help learn the game as well as to share their mutual passion for the sport.

TEAMSoccer is not a league - the TEAM in TEAMSoccer is for the partnership of our players and their mentors. This program will develop individual players - it is not a program where teams play other teams. TEAMSoccer will follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum to best meet the needs of our players.

The TEAMSoccer program is offered in the fall and spring. Sessions will meet on weekend mornings at Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex - training facility of SPORTING Blue Valley on Field #12. The complex is located at the corner of 135th and Switzer Road in Overland Park. Each session will run one hour and be a mix of drills to develop skills, various fun soccer games and scrimmages.

TEAMSoccer has a limited number of participants. Once the program has filled - we will take names for a waiting list. We expect the demand to be high for this program and we ask you to SIGN UP EARLY. There is no charge for this program, however appropriate medical release forms are required with a physician’s signature prior to the to start of the program. We ask that families be sure to confirm that the majority of the dates work for your player and family BEFORE signing up.

Players will be provided a shirt and sack pack at the start of the program. Each player will need to wear their own black shorts and black socks. Shin guards are recommended. Soccer cleats are recommended however any athletic shoes may be worn.

BE A MENTOR

TEAMSoccer stands for Training Enthusiastic Athletes with Mentors. Duties will include assisting your player in what ever way they may need - from setting up activities to cheering them on to retrieving kicked soccer balls to sharing your love for the game with them!

This program depends on the reliability and enthusiasm of our volunteers - please volunteer for only those days that you KNOW you will be able to attend. Thanks so much for being a part of this rewarding program. We look for ward to bringing the love of soccer to players of all skill sets and abilities!

If you are age 13 or older and would like to volunteer as a mentor for this program, please fill out and submit the following form.
